Cummer Museum Exhibit: “Women’s Rights Movement” by Teresa Cook “Aint I A Woman”
Sojourner Truth delivered her renowned address at the Ohio Women’s Convention in Akron in 1851. Though initially untitled, the speech gained fame as "Ain’t I a Woman?" It played a pivotal role in highlighting the intersectional struggles faced by Black women, shedding light on the disparities in rights due to both race and gender.
This painting was created with watercolor and acrylic paint. The image is 18 x 24” framed.
Check back this week for my next post about my “Women’s Rights Movement” Exhibit at the Cummer Museum and why I painted it. Also, don’t forget to stop by and see the exhibit till June 16, 2024.
